This presentation reports on a survey of elementary school mathematics textbooks to determine the extent to which they include authentic assessment tasks and illustrates how teachers can use the Authentic Intellectual Quality [AIQ] framework to identify authentic tasks and modify textbook tasks to raise their level of AIQ.
