The purpose of this workshop is to give participants a real life example of engaging students through creating art. My personal journey of creating a mural at my first practicum school was an unforgettable experience. I will begin by sharing my mural journey, from inception to completion, with supporting images of the actual process. This interactive workshop will give participants an opportunity to begin designing their own mural, so that they could complete this project in their own context. We will discuss the challenges and complexities involved in working with students through the processes of design to the ultimate execution of a significantly-sized and meaningful mural.
There are fewer men than women teaching in schools today, and men are simultaneously valued AND vulnerable. In this workshop Dr. Garry Jones, an experienced teacher, principal and researcher; Todd Webber, a mid-career teacher; and Brian Gilbert, a second year Werklund teacher candidate, will talk about the complex experiences of men who choose to teach.
The workshop explores how concepts from Math 30-1, Math 20-1, Physics 30, Math 31 are linked to electrical engineering. A filter is a circuit that passes only certain frequencies from input to output. In the workshop the students will learn how to build a low pass filter, a high pass filter and how to eliminate an unwanted signal using a low pass filter.
